Gucci‘s version of Christmas could only challenge any convention.
The 2019 Gift Giving campaign has just been published and the unique creative mind of Alessandro Michele has developed a winter theme that has very little in common with winter moods!
To present the Christmas collection, Gucci brings its crew – including of course the unmissable figure of Santa Claus – on a cruise ship, for a wintery getaway full of sun, sea and exotic climates, expertly immortalized in a refined vintage and nostalgic optic.
The realization of the images and the videos of the campaign have been entrusted to Harmony Korine, photographer and filmmaker who assiduously collaborates with the brand, under the artistic direction by Christopher Simmonds.
“The mode of transport is a festive cruise liner packed with an eclectic group of passengers who unapologetically express and embrace their very diverse characters” explained Gucci’s director about this campaign.“Among the food, drink and on-board entertainment, a host of intriguing stories unfold, all underpinned by the curious juxtaposition of winter codes within a warm and balmy setting.”
But the real stars of this Christmas holiday under the sun are the pieces of the ready-to-wear collection of this “winter” 2019.
The Gift Giving collection proposes two of the most recognizable aspects of Gucci combined together in a sort of mix and match: the GG Supreme canvas, in beige and ebony, and the Flora print, created by Vittorio Acconero for the first time for Grace Kelly’s silk scarf in ’66.
Much of the range of garments, shoes and accessories – including bags, suitcases, bags, leather goods and jewelery cases – is characterized by the most iconic Gucci motifs, namely the GG logo, the “Flora” pattern and the green-red- green web stripe.
But there’s more. Paris, Seoul, Honk kong and other major cities are going to host the Gucci Pins: the wonderful temporary shops dedicated to the 2019 Gift Giving collection.
