Jonathan Anderson, Loewe‘s historic creative director, officially joins the fashion house founded by Monsieur Christian Dior in 1946, as head of the brand’s menswear section.

Born in Ireland in 1984, Jonathan Anderson graduated from the London College of Fashion in London after attending the prestigious Julliard school in the USA, to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. From there, the designer’s great bond with cinematography and costumes comes, a bond that he has always carried on alongside his career at Loewe, which ended in March this year.

Jonathan Anderson thus succeeds Kim Jones, the British designer who left the role of Dior Men last January, ending his seven-year tenure at the brand.

The news was announced by Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, during the group’s annual shareholders meeting. On this occasion, Arnault also mentioned other designers of the LVMH group, including Sarah Burton for Givenchy, Michael Rider for Celine and Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough for Loewe.

Following the announcement, a post published by Jonathan Anderson on his Instagram profile appeared on social media depicting a simple Dior label pinned with a pin and, in the caption, only a four-leaf clover emoji.

The news didn’t exactly take everyone by surprise, given the incessant musical chairs game of creative directors in the fashion world. Rumors have always given Anderson as close to the brand.

His appointment in fact contributes to further fueling rumors that he would soon be in charge of Dior’s women’s collections, which are now handled by the Italian Maria Grazia Chiuri. Although the designer has been firm in her role since 2016, it has been hypothesized that she might return to Rome, where Valentino would be waiting for her, ready to welcome her with open arms. But so far neither Bernard Arnault nor the brand have said anything concrete about it.

The only certain news is that Anderson’s debut at Dior is scheduled for next June 2025, during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
