Rumors about a third film dedicated to Sex & The City have been going on for several years now. Any project that has tried to reunite together the quartet of TV’s most popular friends has always failed for various reasons. But now fans can start hoping again because, according to well-informed sources, a reboot of the series is in progress. According to Deadline and Page Six, HBO Max is planning some new episodes of the show inspired by Candace Bushnell’s novels with the original cast or so.
Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte would therefore be about to return with new adventures and new loves, but without one of the most loved protagonists by the public. It seems almost certain that Samantha will not appear in the mini-reboot. Kim Cattrall, the actress who plays her, has repeatedly stressed that SATC is now a closed chapter for her, especially due to the quarrel with Sarah Jessica Parker, which culminated in 2018. On the occasion of the death of her brother, Cattrall had responded dryly to the social condolences of the colleague with these harsh words: “Let me set the record straight (if I had not already done so): you are not my family, you are not my friend”. Some speculate that Samantha could have a new face, perhaps that of Sharon Stone, but at the moment, nothing is certain.
If Kim Cattrall wants to stay out of the project, Sarah Jessica Parker is super excited to bring Carrie Bradshaw back to the screen. In a series of recent interviews he said: “I’d like to see where I am today. The world has changed a lot since the series, but also after the movies. It would be interesting to know what Carrie thinks ”. The actress confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that she would be interested in recording some new episodes, but for her it would not be a reboot but a “reinterpretation” of the show. “I’d like to know where the protagonists are now. I’m curious, the world has changed since the last film … technology, social media. I think Carrie Bradshaw would be very eager to share her thoughts and emotions. ”
Until now, on the Sex & The City reboot there are no official confirmations nor HBO nor from the protagonists of the series. We just have to cross our fingers and wait.
