THE SECOND SEASON OF LUPIN IS COMING

Lupin is about to return. And very soon too. After the first five episodes, the French TV series starring Omar Sy will appear on Netflix’s second part in the summer. The story is not the serial transposition of Maurice Leblanc’s novel, “The Adventures of Arsenio Lupine, gentleman thief”. This new version, which garnered a record 80 million subscribers in 28 days, uses only half the literary reference. A difference from the other top series of the moment, Bridgerton, which instead draws on the saga of Julia Quinn’s novels.

The plot

For those unfamiliar with the plot, the protagonist Assane is divorced, with a preteen son and an ex-wife who does not pay alimony. He does not fulfill his duties towards his family because a ghost torments him from the past, his father. The man, who emigrated to France from Africa to seek his fortune, had been hired by a wealthy family as a personal driver. Still, one day he was accused of Marie Antoinette’s necklace’s theft, a priceless jewel studded with diamonds. He ends up in prison and kills himself, at least so it seems, but the son tries to prove his innocence for over twenty years. So when the necklace comes up at an auction, it does everything to get justice. His inspiration? Lupine, the protagonist of the book that his father had given him as a child.

The stakes are high, and the next five episodes of the project are expected to be even more loaded with intrigue, family mysteries, and twists in full Lupine style. But we are sure about one thing: At the foot of the notorious thief, we would still see many new and spectacular Nike sneakers. In fact, in addition to the plot, the public did not miss many Air Jordan extras. However, we do not think that the choice to put sneakers on Lupine is linked to script requirements. As you can see from his Instagram profile, Omar Sy seems to be a lover of sneakers.
