Kim Jones ‘ journey into the street world continues after the two Nike Air Max 95. This time the creative director of Dior Uomo and Fendi collaborated with the Converse brand. The result is a capsule collection consisting of sneakers and clothing. As for Converse, this collaboration expands its portfolio of designer co-labs. The most recent is the iconic one with Rick Owens, unveiled during the FW21 men’s fashion show at the Venice Lido.
After defining himself as a “non-nostalgic” person, Kim Jones explained that with this collection, he sought to honor the future of Converse while preserving the precious values that make up its DNA. The result is a series of products born from the takeover of contemporary streetwear and the most classic American sportswear, translated from an avant-garde but at the same time conservative perspective. The most striking example of this working approach is evident in work done on the silhouette of the Chuck 70. The shoe design was obvious and direct: take an iconic sneaker and protect it in something that encloses it.
Together with the Converse design team, Kim Jones wanted to experiment by playing with more curved lines than those present in the classic model. The rubber midsole has been raised and curved to create an illusory effect of elevation, while the canvas upper of the Chuck 70 has been enclosed within a transparent TPU cage adorned with practical eyelets for the laces.

The collection is then completed by four items: a parka, a crewneck sweatshirt, cargo pants, and a t-shirt. Extremely simple in terms of design, these products make minimalism their strong point.
The Kim Jones x Converse collection arrives today, Thursday, April 8, worldwide on the Converse website and at selected retailers such as Antonia, Antonioli, Slam Jam and LUSIAVIAROMA.
