For her new collaboration with Converse, the Chinese designer Feng Chen Wang explored a new concept: a 2-in-1 approach of the archival Chuck 70. By doing so, Feng Chen Wang has mastered the deconstructed DIY aesthetic, giving the sneaker a new, avant-garde lease of life. The Chuck 70 “2-in-1” pack, which surprised the public two years ago during the brand’s show in Shanghai, will be released in two new limited edition colours: one black and white, and the other one in orange and cream. The collaboration is characterized by a juxtaposition of layers from the upper and extends to the rubber midsole, where another layer is divided creating a deconstructed effect that gives thickness to the whole shoe.

The new Chuck 70 2-in-1 was designed by mixing two alternative versions of the classic silhouette, by blending and overlapping, into a single shape. Converse and Feng Chen Wang wanted to express the concept of duality: an overlap of two organic canvas uppers, combined vulcanized rubber bands and a new sole, divided into four quadrants. A complex design that combines the volumes of the sole. Other design details include a double set of laces and the Feng Chen Wang logo featured on the strings and the heel.

The Feng Chen Wang x Converse Chuck 70 “2-in-1” collection is set to release worldwide on Converse’s online store, on selected retailers like One Block Down, and HBX on October 22. Suggested retail is $1,399 HKD (approx. $180 USD).
