As early as 1972, Gucci entered the watch industry. It was the first luxury fashion house to integrate this object in its catalog, to interpret it as a contemporary style symbol.
Now, in its centenary year, the Maison has announced that it wants to pay homage to the precious legacy of its founder, Guccio Gucci, with his entry into fine watchmaking. The new adventure will further highlight the creativity, mastery, savoir-faire of Italian style, and the technical ability present in the ready-to-wear collections. And not only that, the inspirations will come from the world of flora and fauna, from inclusion, from tradition, and the avant-garde.
The line is divided into four sections: G-Timeless, Grip, Haute joaillerie, and GUCCI 25H. Within the latter, which symbolically caters to those who are not enough twenty-four hours a day, the brand’s flagship stands out in this new project, namely the GG727.25 caliber. From the name, it expresses many meanings. From the moment, it contains a number very dear to Alessandro Michele. The 7 expresses completeness; 2 represents balance and cooperation; 5 as a manifesto of curiosity and freedom. The internal mechanism is then applied to a unisex model in yellow gold or platinum with an elegant, sporty, and versatile design. Above all, it is ultra-thin like a second skin on the wrist.
For the realization of the two watches, as in 1972, Gucci used the best Swiss craftsmanship. Quality control, assembly, and setting of diamonds are carried out in la Chaux-de-Fonds; Gucci’s Quadranti factory, located in the Canton of Ticino, produces watch faces, using the most advanced technology combined with highly specialized manual processing and using special decorative techniques. Finally, Neuchâtel, headquarters for the Maison’s watches, is the place where the company’s watch design know-how converges.
