The comeback of the Nike Dunk within the sneaker rotation of sneakers enthusiasts has been a long journey marked by numerous partnerships and colors, so much so that the Dunk is the silhouette of the year par excellence. And if for most of the year a return of the Dunk High “Varsity Maize” model by Nike Sportswear was also hypothesized, now the appearance of the images is making the matter more and more official. They first debuted in 1985 as part of the influential Nike “Be True to Your School” pack and represented the University of Iowa Hawkeyes at the time. This striking mix of black and yellow from Dunk was also used in the legendary 1999 Dunk High “Wu-Tang” and a recent version of 2012’s Dunk High.

Compared to the latter model, the upper of the new Dunk High is entirely made of textured leather. The color arrangement has remained unchanged, characterized by the presence of yellow panels highlighted by the contrast that is established thanks to the black sections of the silhouette. The only difference compared to the 2012 Nike Dunk High “Varsity Maize” is the color of the midsole, which has gone from black to white, making the sneaker look less heavy.

The first release rumors place the release of “Varsity Maize” during the holiday season. A broad and vague forecast for now appears to be set for December 9th.
