Sustainability is big business in the fashion industry right now, with more and more consumers looking for eco alternatives to their favorite products. Karl Lagerfeld is the latest brand to harness the power of the sustainability market, announcing today that they will be collaborating with Amber Valletta for a Spring 2021 Conscious Accessories Collection. According to BusinessWire, the global ethical fashion market will be worth $8.25 billion by 2023, so this is a smart move for a brand that continues to target a more contemporary audience.
A Name With Proven Eco Credentials. One of the original ‘90s supermodels, Valletta is now a prominent sustainability campaigner with a host of eco credentials, making her the perfect pick for Lagerfeld’s first environmentally focused collaboration. When announcing the collaboration, Valletta said “Karl and I had so much history together, and I’m excited to be partnering with his namesake brand for a project that’s so meaningful to us both.”
First Product Details
The range of accessories will be launched in March and will feature bags produced using both recycled cotton and cactus leather. Although full details of the collection have yet to be announced, we do know that the collection will include a special edition K/Kushion bag, inspired by Lagerfeld‘s cushion, which the designer had carried with him on all his travels since he was a small child.
Not only is the collection sustainable, it also boasts a charity element, as the profits generated from the sale of the KARL LAGERFELD X AMBER VALLETTA K/Kushion will be donated to a charity that supports the goals of the Fashion Pact initiative.
The collection will launch in March 2021 and will be available to purchase in KARL LAGERFELD stores worldwide, as well as on KARL.COM, Zalando and a range of other online outlets. We’re excited to see the first pictures of the collection when they are released.
