Naomi Campbell proves once again that she is the queen of supermodels and she does it by posing for Vivienne Westwood’s new S/S 2020 campaign. Behind the camera is Jurgen Teller who immortalizes Naomi in an undefined Paris, not that of the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysees, rather an unprecedented city with a punk flavor.
The campaign, between neon lights and graffiti, is inspired by mythology and heavenly imagery and designer Vivienne Westwood comments on the choice: “When I design clothes, I imagine a story and when someone photographs me wearing those clothes I always have in mind what they tell, I am reading Mythology and for this campaign it is as if we were on the way to paradise and we are turning from fish to birds … “
And in this mood out of reality stands out Naomi Campbell who looks straight into the room with a proud look, in a completely naked shot and only with a tulle hat to cover her head and a tie around her neck, in another wearing a dress red and white gloves on the hands holding a tree branch, impersonating a goddess, perhaps? One thing is certain, Naomi comments on having been chosen for this campaign, the first of the supermodel for the designer: “I believe that things in life happen when they have to happen. It took me 33 years of career to run a campaign Westwood and I’m very happy to do it in my 49th year of life. If it’s destiny, things happen. “
Among the shots not only the supermodel, but also Vivienne Westwood in person, her husband stylist Andreas Kronthaler and the model Kandioura Fissourou are depicted. A dynamic and out of line campaign, just like the spirit of Vivianne Westwood and an iconic protagonist, queen of the catwalks who teaches us that dreams and beauty have no age.
