In the heart of Rome on viale del Babuino 30 there is a place where time stands still. Enter and for a micro second you are wrapped in fragrances that make you dream. You see yourself being transported from a flower garden to a perfume laboratory in a second macro. Entering in a Frédéric Malle boutique is something magical: attention to the smallest details, where attention to furnishing and to people is evident. The atmosphere is warm, while the aesthetics of the shops are dictated by a common principle: the interiors have the same characteristics as the private residence of Frédéric Malle in that place. Because the desire of the boutique towards customers is to give their guests “a moment puor sois” in the discovery of their perfume. And it’s really true. The celebrating French nose Frédéric Malle founder of Editions de Parfums, in fact leaves carte blanche to his artists who are free to express themselves in all the olfactory nuances realizing different lines of fragrances.
It is not a shop but we can say a real laboratory in the heart of Rome. We will call it so also because inside is not only a crystal cabin where it is possible to feel the true essence of the perfume but also a refrigerator cabin where the bottles are kept to keep their properties at their best. The space in Via del Babuino is conceived as if it were the private home of Rome by Fédéric Malle: custom-made carpets by Madeleine Castaing, a fireplace in French marble, curtains hand-sewn by the historic Paris manufactory Le Manach and custom-made bookcases made by young Texan designer Juniper Tedhams. The nineteenth-century lamps give the ideal final touch to the intimacy of the environment. These classic and welcoming elements are combined with technical, refined and modern elements found in almost all locations, such as the gallery of portraits of all the “composers”. Because Le Editions de Parfums, born June 6, 2000, are fragrances where what matters is the nose that creates it.
