Giorgio Armani talks about himself and his passion for cinema, through a special Haute Couture collection.
A night of magic in the name of beauty, art and Made in Italy made these days dedicated to the famous Venetian festival unforgettable. The Giorgio Armani One Night Only, fashion show, the traveling event that brings the Armani universe to the most important cities of the world, landed in Venice and was one of the most awaited evenings on the calendar in this 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival.
To date, One Night Only has visited seven international cities: London in 2006, Tokyo in 2007, Beijing in 2012, Rome and New York in 2013, Paris in 2014 and Dubai in 2021. The format consists of Haute Couture fashion shows inspired by the host place, but with the unmistakable hallmark of the classic Armani style.
The appointment in Venice could only be planned in partnership with the Film Festival , thus becoming an exciting celebration of the city and its contradictions, a dedication of sincere and lasting love that celebrates the link between the King of fashion and the world of cinema.
The event took place inside the Arsenale, the ancient complex, now restored, of shipyards and workshops located at the eastern end of the ancient Maritime Republic.
At the Tese delle Nappe, a selection of the Armani Privé Haute Couture collection presented last January in Paris, which had the Harlequin as its theme (that of Venice but also that of Pablo Picasso) was on show. Not surprisingly, the most significant geometric motif of these characters, the lozenge, is the leitmotiv that connects all 65 garments that have paraded at the Arsenale, in a graceful alternation between frivolity and elegance.

Enjoying the show in the front row, a jubilation of guests worthy of the Red Carpet of Venice 2023. A multitude of Italian and international stars of the small and big screen attended and made King George’s evening even more extraordinary, starting from Sophia Loren, godmother of the event and historical friend of the designer.
There was no shortage of charming actors with acclaimed elegance such as Lucas Bravo of Emily in Paris to Regé-Jean Page of Bridgerton, divas such as Jessica Chastain, Kerry Washington, Barbara Palvin, Miriam Leone, Claudia Gerini but also personalities such as Luca Guadagnino, Ferzan Özpetek, Benicio del Toro and many others.

No less important was the delivery to Giorgio Armani of a Golden Lion made of Murano glass, a few hours before the start of the fashion show. The award, handed over by the mayor of Venice Brugnaro, is the lagoon city’s tribute to the extraordinary activity of the designer, «to the man, his commitment and his great passion for beauty, which he has been able to transform into a successful company, symbol of Made in Italy in the world».
