We are in via Piacenza, on the edge of Porta Romana in Milan: another area that has experienced a great development in recent times, also with the opening of a myriad of clubs and restaurants. The latest addition, The Spirit: a studded black door, three portholes, a lantern when the restaurant is open. A beautiful and ultra elegant place, with green velvet sofas, “plays of light and extravagant mirrors”, which in the intentions of the owners created create dreamlike, “a world of illusion and magic where the perception of places and time vanishes”.
Inside, a small waiting room, then follows a first room with a right, the long solid mahogany counter with backlit onyx inlay and mustard-colored armchairs and a row of mismatched sofas, for couples and groups of friends. Overcoming a game of mirrors, you enter a second more intimate room, which can also be reserved.
Bar manager, Fabio Bacchi, an international career in the luxury hotel, while the barista team is led by Carlo Simbula. Valentina Rizzi, sommelier of the wine list, completes the team.
The Spirit is known for the “magic” of exclusive international spirits such as the Ron Gran Reserva of the Familia Serrallés of the Puerto Qian portico distillery Don Q of Puerto Rico, cited by Forbes magazine as the most exclusive in the world, the Nikka Gold & Gold, a blend of fine Japanese whiskey, whose bottle is complete with armor and samurai helmet, a very rare Mezcal distillate in a third time with local fruits in infusion and a chicken breast (pechuga) suspended in the still, bottles of wine of the highest level and finally the The champagne house chosen is Henri Giraud, a small vigneron from 1628 assembled today to the thirteenth generation. Finger food dishes, such as mini tartare or cheeses, complete the offer.
And why is it called “The Spirit”? “Spirit” to recall the many spirits present but also for “spirits” or magic since all the cocktails served have a story behind it, precisely a magic, which the bartenders are ready to tell it.
The designer of the restaurant is the Venezuelan Juan Carlos Viso, born in 1973, who has lived in Milan for 20 years, with experience at the Dordoni studio and with Artemide and Minotti.
