It is no news that fashion giants such as Louis Vuitton occasionally decide to step out of their comfort zone of clothing and couture collections to create unique and practically collectible accessories, reserved exclusively for their established clientele and predictably characterized by dizzying prices. Some of these are sports items, furniture items, gadgets or fashion items inspired by unrelated sectors.
The prestige and prohibitive value of these creations is largely to be found in the brand and in the name of its designer.
Louis Vuitton knows this well and with the winter holidays approaching, it has released 100 limited edition pieces of snowboards with magnificent marble patterns designed by Virgil Abloh, known to be also a passionate snowboarder.
For those who missed all the details, the talented American designer who was artistic director of the menswear section of Louis Vuitton, tragically passed away in 2021 at the age of 41, after a two-year battle with cardiac angiosarcoma.
One year after the tragic loss of Virgil Abloh, we have continued to see a steady stream of his products and styles hitting the market, demonstrating how deeply rooted his work as Creative Director runs.
The snowboard was in fact made by Virgil as part of the Louis Vuitton Winter 2022 collection and it is currently on sale at a cost of $7,450.00.
These 100 precious pieces, under their marbled coating, are composed of a mix of wood and stainless steel. They also feature a classic camber and progressive tip, suited for carving and riding in deep snow with ease and versatility. Their aesthetic is undeniably captivating.
The LV logo stands out in emerald green in the center of the board, entirely covered by the dark marbled pattern that recalls and in a certain sense “quotes” the marble floor on which the LV Men’s Fall Winter 2021 fashion show was staged.
Without a doubt, the Marble Snowboard is going to represent an exclusive and rare emblem of the Louis Vuitton imagery, as well as a status symbol for all lovers of high fashion and ski holidays.
