Although the gruppo Kering brand is not new to numerous and important collaborations such as the most recent with Balenciaga, The North face, Adidas e Palace, the one with Dickies was a decidedly original creative move.
Founded in 1992, the Dickies brand has always been synonymous with extremely pragmatic, functional and quality workwear. Over the years, however, some garments of the brand such as the Eisenhower jacket and the Original 874 trousers have found their own stylistic recontextualization with the new generations who looked at the skate culture, becoming a trend in their own way. And it is precisely by seizing this opportunity with sensitivity that the Florentine company came forward, taking the most iconic pieces of the brand and placing them in the hands of its craftsmen.
More specifically, the collaboration is between Dickies and Gucci Vault, the experimental platform created by Alessandro Michele, now former creative director of the Maison, in 2021, on which it will therefore be possible to purchase the line exclusively online.
Composed of both men’s and women’s garments, the collection features the most well-known pieces of the American brand such as Dickies’ signature black Eisenhower jacket and 874 trousers, both decorated with studs and sparkling details in gold, silver and diamonds. Also part of the collection is a beige shirt and a set of Bermuda shorts, as well as a short women’s set consisting of a gold-colored Eisenhower jacket and a pair of pants.
Within the capsule collection we therefore find the symbolic pieces of workwear interpreted in a luxury keyand embellished with studs, eyelets and glamorous-rock patterns. According to a press release by Gucci in this regard, the collection has these eye-catching decorations as the main feature with the aim of “creating a profound dialogue on the essentialness of functionality and self-expression” proposing a playful and at the same time elegant blending between these two realities.
