It’s called The Adidas Archive. The Footwear Collection, is the new book published by Taschen that contains all the models of Adidas sneakers that have made the history of the brand from its origins to today. Memorable moments, limited edition collections and important collaborations, the volume presents the first image story of the Adidas shoe through more than 357 models, including never-seen prototypes and unique original models.
A detailed visual documentation of the archive gives us garzi to photographers Christian Habermeier and Sebastian Jäger. Think that the Adidas historical archives, one of the largest if not the largest among the archives of sporting goods manufacturers around the world, was born almost by chance. One of the brand’s founding brothers, Adolf Dassler, asked the athletes to return the shoes used to study and improve its products, collecting and cataloging them in the attic of the house.

The images inside are in high resolution and have not required any post-production intervention. Each shoe brings to light the personal history of the person who wore it. On the new Taschen volume it is possible to admire bespoke models made for stars like Madonna and to deepen the collaborations in the world of fashion with Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Raf Simons, Stella McCartney and Yohji Yamamoto, as well as the cutting-edge techniques and materials created by the brand , such as the use of recycled plastic. The volume features 644 pages of history, already available on the Tashen website, at a price of € 100.
