While waiting the most magical night of the year for the film industry community, I figured we could go down memory lanes and remembering the top 5 most iconic looks! Let’s get inspired!
The famous slit of Angelina Jolie.
For the Academy Awards 2012, Angie wore a black strapless Atelier Versace dress with a MEGA thigh-high slit making by popping her right leg out in every pose. After that, the Angelina Jolie’s slit became a signature vibe where all the other celebrities always get inspired from.
The pearls of Lupita Nyong’o.
The actress wore a custom Calvin Klein gown for the 2015 Academy Awards. The dress was a white, open-back, and had a pearl-embellished bodice. According to reports from the red carpet, there were 6,000 pearls on the dress. A fun fact of this dress is that, after the Oscars, the item was stolen from the actress, but then found in a West Hollywood bathroom hotel. It was missing a lot of pearls that probably were put to sell on the black market. The value of the dress was around $150,000.
The see-through suit of Barbra Streisand.
During the Academy Awards 1969, Streisand won the Best Actress Oscar for Funny Girl while wearing a sheer top and bell-bottom pants with metallic fabric. The look was designed by Arnold Scaasi. Apparently, the actress wasn’t aware of how much her delicate pantsuit was transparent.
The epitome of elegance with Audrey Hepburn.
During the Academy Awards 1954, Hepburn wore a lace Givenchy number with an A-line silhouette and belted waist. She won the Best Actress Oscar this year for Roman Holiday and, to collect the award, the actress recycled her dress from the film, asking Givenchy to alter it for the red carpet.
The Oscars princess: Grace Kelly.
During the Academy Awards 1955, Kelly won Best Actress for her role in The Country Girl. She chose to wear an Edith Head celadon satin gown. This dress represents the full glam of the Oscars, and it will always be a timeless look.
