Goodbye, virtual red carpet. The 2021 Oscars were held yesterday at Los Angeles Union Station, and the stars took part in it in person. A sign of strength and rebirth during this challenging moment marked by the pandemic. And so, even if only for one night, the world could dream of looking at an actual red carpet.
Among the most magical dresses, the gold one by Carey Mulligan, signed by Valentino Haute Couture, is characterized by a bustier and a vast skirt with a train. Entirely embroidered with iridescent sequins with pearly reflections, it is a fabric masterpiece. 350 hours of manual work were required for its realization. And Valentino Haute Couture is also the long dress in silk chiffon worn by the presenter, Zendaya. Illuminated by a vibrant neon yellow, it features a draped bustier with cut-out detail and a light, flowing train.
Seductive and at the same time very elegant, the ladies in red. Amanda Seyfried wrapped in an all-pleated dress with a vertiginous neckline by Armani Privé and Angela Bassett with a column dress with a wide slit and balloon sleeves by Alberta Ferretti. She completes the look with a very light chiffon cape. Then we have Reese Witherspoon in Dior with Jimmy Choo shoes and Bulgari designer jewelry. Finally, Olivia Colman also chose a Dior Haute Couture creation.
Then some have focused on minimalism with clean and essential lines, with a sophisticated and exquisite result. Vanessa Kirby sported a delicate pale pink Gucci dress consisting of a micro bustier and a tube skirt and completed by a vital train tail. Laura Pausini, who wore a black Valentino Haute Couture silk and wool double gazar dress, was made especially for her by the creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. Bulgari signs the jewels.
The brightest? Regina King, wrapped in a sky blue Louis Vuitton dress, entirely studded with crystals, and equipped with magical butterfly sleeves. Margot Robbie is also splendid and radiant, who chose a Chanel Haute Couture creation customized for her by her Maison for the event. A dress characterized by a mermaid silhouette and décor silver flowers.
Special mention for the “eccentric” touch to the winner of the evening, the director Chloé Zhao who won the statuette for Nomadland, who on her sophisticated Hermès dress, in a decidedly low profile powder shade, paired a pair of white sneakers.
Below is the gallery dedicated to the 2021 Oscars with some of the most beautiful looks of the stars seen on the red carpet.
