Big news for Emma Watson. The actress, famous for playing the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter Saga, is now an official board member of the Kerin Group, which elected her Chairman of the Sustainable Committee. Other members that have been recently elected are Jean Liu and Tidjane Thiam.
“Their respective knowledge and competences, and the multiplicity of their backgrounds and perspectives will be invaluable additions to the Kering Group’s board members. “The collective intelligence that comes from diverse points of view and the richness of different experiences are crucial to the future of our organisation. I’m proud to welcome these three talents on our team.” said the CEO and Chairman of the Kerin Group, François-Henri Pinault.
Emma, that at the moment counts more than 57 million followers on Instagram, graduated from Brown University in 2014 with a major in English Literature. On the same year, Emma was nominated as an Ambassador of the UN and launched her program HeForShe, which wanted to involve men in the discourses around gender equality. The project, in 2015 let her gain a place in the list TIME 100 dedicated to the most influential people in the world.
In 2016 Emma created Our Shared Shelf, a feminist book club and joined the creative committee of the TIME’S UP helpline, bringing the movement in the UK. Thanks to her, a new justice and equality fund was created in the UK, to stop harassments and abuses towards women.
In 2019, the French Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron invited her to join the G7 on gender equality. Emma Watson is also a pioneer in the promotion of sustainable fashion and is an ambassador of the app Good On You, that allows the users to check how sustainable a brand is. In December 2019, Emma was captured in the iconic Pirelli’s calendar. And recently, played the role of Meg in the latest re-make of Little Women directed by Greta Gerwig.
