After the huge success of the four Milan’s location, which we already talked about a few months ago, El Porteño open a new location in Rome. They will bring the colours and the taste of Brazilian’s food and culture: every meal becomes a rite, a fundamental part of society that symbolizes warmth, love and integration. El Porteño is the perfect combination of taste, culture and lifestyle, but with an international spin. “We wanted to create a unique place in the heart of Rome, and the interior design and atmosphere of the restaurant reflect in an authentic way the soul of Buenos Aires. Once you enter, you will feel like you’re in a typical Argentinian house and not simply in a restaurant,” said Fabio Acampora and the brothers Alejandro Bernardez and Sebastian Bernardez, partners of Dorrego Company and owners of El Porteño.
The location is in the heart of the Rione Sant’Eustachio, in the middle of the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The interior design was curated in every detail, and almost everything is imported from Argentina, handpicked by the owners, for a perfect mix of colours and shapes. Of course, there’s a lot of references to tango, the form of artistic expression that characterizes the nation. The menu is a balanced mix of the Argentinian tradition and European influences, including the empanadas, the la Lengua a la Vinaigrette and the Mollejas Salteadas. Meat is one of the main protagonists or fresh fish in the form of tartare like the Sashimi Porteño, il Sashimi Gazpacho, la Tartare Especial. Many vegetarian options like the Arco Iris, a recipe based on spinach, beetroot and ricotta. The main dessert is Il dulce de leche, while in the lab the chefs also create traditional cakes like the Panqueques and a mousse. The wine list include some options imported directly from Argentina like the Malbec and the Torrontes, as well as lots of champagne options.
The opening of El Porteño, during these difficult times, is a powerful gesture and shows great determination by Fabio Acampora and Alejandro and Sebastian Bernardez, which gives us hope for a better future for the capital and the country.
