ALL THE UPDATES FROM THE UPCOMING MILAN FASHION WEEK 2020

The upcoming Milan Fashion Week planned for September 2020 will be the first-ever “phygital” edition of the event. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, July’s edition went full-on digital, and just a few shows allowed guests like Etro and Dolce & GabbanaThe new calendar released by the Camera Nazionale Della Moda Italiana includes 23 live shows and 41 online shows, as well as 61 presentation and 22 events

From the 22nd until the 28th of September 2020, the Milan Fashion Week will include 5 days of live shows during an edition dedicated to the new Womenswear Spring/Summer 2021 Collections and for the first time the Menswear Spring/Summer 2021 Collections, usually presented in January and June.

Of course, the calendar of the Milan Fashion Week includes big names such as Alberta Ferretti, Etro, Fendi, Max Mara, Salvatore Ferragamo and Versace, that will all host a live fashion show. While Giorgio Armani will present his collection on live television but no guests are allowed inside. Valentino comes back to Milan, with a co-ed womenswear and menswear show on September 27th. Other brands chose to present their collections digitally like Prada, with the debut of Raf Simons as co-creative director next to Miuccia Prada and Missoni. Out of the official calendar by the CNMI, Bottega Veneta that already presented their collection in July. 

To support the Black Lives Matter movement, on September 27th there will be the digital event “WE ARE MADE IN ITALY – The Fab Five Bridge Builders” hosted by 5 POC talents in collaboration with the BLACK LIVES MATTER IN ITALIAN FASHION-COLLECTIVE. The 5 designers discovered by Michelle Ngonmo, founder of the Milan Afro Fashion Week, will present their SS21 collections as a collective under the creative direction of Edward Buchanan and Stella Jean.

After the initiatives “China we are with you” and “Italia we are with you”, the CNMI launch another event to support the Lebanese population after the tragic events in August. The event “Spotlight on Lebanese Designers – CNMI in support of the new generation of Lebanese Talent” will feature 7 Lebanese designers (Azzi & OstaBoyfriend the BrandEmergency RoomHussein BazazaL’Atelier NawbarRoni Helou) that will join the Milan Fashion Week with exclusive digital contents. Everything will be amplified with an area set up in Milan by Urban Vision, that throughout different maxi televisions placed around the city will show the content of the Milan Fashion Week 2020.
