There are exactly 35 days until Christmas evening, and perhaps the time has come to go in search of gifts for our loved ones. Bored of the “usual” little things or no ideas on what to navigate, these years focus on something limited edition, especially for your fashion addicted friends. We are talking about books, not the classics, but three limited-edition fashion volumes that come out these days in November.
The first is called “Oviparity” by Yorgos Lanthimos. The Greek director, photographer, and producer, nominated for ten Oscars including Best Director and Best Image, collaborated with Alessandro Michele, Gucci creative director, to capture the essence of the Cruise 2020 collection of the home. The photo shoot takes place at Villa Albani and here the older models, represented as marble sculptures, with faces and bodies in dust and come to life interacting with their younger and more fashionable counterparts, who are dressed only with the pieces of the Gucci Cruise 2020 collection – including disquieting, vaporous dresses, shirts with bold and psychedelic prints, transparent bodysuits with Gucci monograms or Scottish shirts and jackets. A perfect image of sumptuousness, elegance and tenderness.
The second one we recommend is Supreme x Phaidon Vol. 2 Hardcover Monograph. In April 2010, Supreme published a 340-page book with Rizzoli New York on the first sixteen years of its history. Almost ten years later, the second volume of the book arrives, this time published with Phaidon Publishings, documents the history of the brand from 2010 to 2018. It is a photographic coffeebook that takes up the story of the James Jebbia brand from where it was left in 2010 and deepens the most famous collaborations such as those with Nobuyoshi Araki, David Sims, Kate Moss and Dash Snow. The book is also accompanied by a cardboard box with a logo box, a poster and a sticker.
Least but not list, Rick Owens’ books. The first is entitled LEGASPI BY RICK OWENS which tells in detail the life and work of Larry Legaspi, famous for his retro-futuristic drawings of the 70s, written by the same designer, the second is RICK OWENS PHOTOGRAPHED BY DANIELLE LEVITT. A visual documentation of Owens’ vast work of the last decade with over 150 color and black and white photographs, celebrating the designer’s dark aesthetics and creativity, as one of the most prolific visionaries in the fashion and design industry.
