The game of chairs in the fashion industry seems not to be over yet. After Gucci, Chloè, Alexander McQueen and Moschino – just to name a few – another brand is ready to face an important change in artistic direction. It is in fact Blumarine‘s turn which, following the farewell of Nicola Brognano, confirms Walter Chiapponi as the new creative director.
The reason for this decision is linked to the intentions of the Italian fashion house to renew itself and make itself more attractive and interesting, especially for the younger generations.
“I am confident that Walter Chiapponi, with his internationally recognized talent and his fine stylistic sensibility will bring new energy to Blumarine while honoring the brand’s extraordinary heritage. I am proud to write a new and important chapter with Walter.” commented Marco Marchi, CEO of Eccellenze Italiane, the holding company that owns Blumarine.

The curriculum of the Milanese designer actually boasts all the right elements to be able to properly fill this role, giving a new identity to the brand.
After studying at the European Institute of Design, Walter made his debut in the world of fashion with Alessandro Dell’Acqua towards the end of the 90s, and then later moved on to collaborate with some of the most powerful brands in the fashion panorama such as Givenchy, Valentino, Gucci, Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta and, more recently with Tod’s. Chiapponi exited Tod’s earlier this year, presenting his latest collection at Milan Fashion Week in September.
With the latter brand the designer had undertaken a brilliant and prolific creative work that lasted about 4 years, based on sophisticated and sober luxury and Italian craftsmanship.
Now to witness his debut in Blumarine we have to wait for the Milan fashion week in February 2024.
“I am delighted to have been appointed Creative Director of an iconic Italian brand that has outlined over time an idea of femininity that is defined by lightness and creativity. – explained Walter Chiapponi regarding his new role. – The possibility of contributing to establishing a new phase for Blumarine is for me an opportunity to embrace new thrilling and important horizons, to expand my vision and to restore sense to artistic expression”.
