Fallout, the popular video games’ franchise set in a post-apocalyptic future will become a TV series on Amazon Prime Video. The news was announced via Twitter, where Amazon publishes a teaser trailer. The project is curated by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan (Westworld) and it will be produced in collaboration with Bethesda Softwares, Fallout’s games company.

Since its first debut in 1997 to this says, many spin-offs and 5 main chapters were released (the latest one in 2018, Fallout 76). Set in the 22nd century, the series shows a world where China and the USA are in a war over the last glimpses of uranium and petroleum, after a nuclear war that destroyed society in 2077. The human race is at risk and the last survivors are alive thanks to the Vault, while many suffered genes mutations. The goal of the game is to survive, travelling around the USA, from Las Vegas to Washington and Boston.
“Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen,” said Bethesda’s Todd Howard, who will be among the show’s executive producers. “But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios.” Fallout is just one of the many videogames turned into tv series, like Halo produced by Showtime, or The Last of Us that it will be produced by HBO. Then there is The Witcher available on Netflix.
