In March the rapper from Houston Travis Scott and the sports brand Nike presented the new Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 270 React. The latest commercial stunt of the rapper for the release of the Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 270 “Cactus Trails”, is the website for a fictitious shop: Cactus Trails Trading Co. The shop sells everything from a dried fruit mix with real pieces of the cactus inside, used socks and a robot hoover with a basketball hoop mounted on top. Nothing is really on sale, but the website and the videos posted by Scott starring the YouTube star Brad Hall, make fun of merch-culture and the fans that would buy anything that celebrities sell.
The sneaker features a series of different textures and materials that were inspired by the passion that Travis Scott has for vintage and outdoor life. The worn-out effect is given by the collar made with pile and the tint, Sulphur Dye, that they died the upper with, as well as sole and Air Unit. Some colorful elements appear on the laces and the tongue, which you can customize with the lace-lock. Also, the sneaker will be available in kids sized that will feature a reversed Swoosh.
The capsule sportswear collection is inspired by military training uniforms and will include a hoodie, trousers and t-shirts. All three of them are black and decorated with pockets made with a contrast synthetic material.
The sneakers and the capsule collection will be available on May 29th.
