THE RISE OF THE FASHION INDUSTRY IN SOUTH KOREA

China and Japan, have always been the leading markets for the fashion industry in Asia, influencing not only the continent but the whole world. But in the last few yearsthe population in South Korea has started paying more and more attention to the fashion system. Everything started in 2012, with the global k-pop hit Gangnam Style that reached one billion views and brought South Korea’s under the spotlights. Since that moment, they became subject of analysis from fashion experts, thanks to their ability to influence the global market in every kind of field: from music to beauty, an industry that is now valued 13 billion dollars. Who, in fact, was able to win the first edition of the talent show produced by Netflix “Next in fashion was the designer Minju Kim.

According to the analysis «Investment opportunities in Korea fashion & beauty», the fashion market in South Korea is estimated at 41,5 billion dollars and is destined to grow.

“In the last 19 years, we had 670 students coming from South Korea and since 2005 there hasn’t been a final that didn’t have at least one student from the country”, says Barbara Franchin, founder of Its-International talent support in Trieste.
