If you’ve spent hours looking for the Chanel lipstick that perfectly matches your outfit and skin tone, the Chanel Lipscanner app is for you. The new hi-tech initiative of the house, thanks to Artificial Intelligence, manages to find the perfect shade of lipstick starting from any color.
But how does it work? Just scan the color you want, and the app will match it with the Chanel lipstick that is closest to you. There are five color proposals: natural, pink, orange, red, or plum. The app can also recommend the most suitable texture between matte, brilliant, glossy, satin, metallic. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be a person’s photo that is framed. You can scan from the color of a dress you like, the bag you see in the window, or from fruit.
But how do we try the lipstick, once we find it, with the shops closed due to the restrictions for Covid-19? The app has thought of this too, and in fact, it allows you to try on lipstick virtually. “Whether it’s virtually or in real life, creativity has no limits,” reads a Chanel statement. “Cultivate your inspirations, always and everywhere“.
Lipscanner, a collaboration between Chanel’s Makeup Creation Studio and CX Lab, is an exciting example of what technology can do in the field of beauty. Before recommending the most suitable color and finish, the app considers the skin tone and the shape of the lips. This is possible thanks to its algorithm trained to analyze hundreds of faces. The new app is an absolute novelty for Chanel and anticipates the future of the beauty world and the most advanced technology.
Chanel Lipscanner is available for iPhone in Apple’s App Stores.
But Chanel’s application is not new to hi-tech beauty technology. Thanks to Perso, Saint Laurent has created a device that allows you to create the perfect lipstick for your complexion. The product is made thanks to three color cartridges that reflect the YSL palette of reds, nudes, oranges, and fuchsia and are located inside the device.
