Nike and Adidas joined forces to once again fight against racism and violence

Riots and manifestations are currently shaking the political climate in the United States, after the murder of George Floyd, that on May 25th was brutally killed by a Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, that pressed his knee on George’s neck for 7 minutes which led to his death. The two brands historically rival put everything on a side for a simple and direct message: “For once, Don’t do it” wrote Nike on their Twitter account, going against their usual slogan “Just do it.”

“Don’t pretend there’s no problem in America. Don’t turn your back on racism. Do not accept that innocent lives are taken from us. Don’t use any other excuses. Don’t think this isn’t about you. Don’t sit silent. We are all part of the change“ says the campaign video. And among the thousands retweet, Adidas came up surprisingly. The German brand echoed their competitor’s message and wrote: “Together is the way forward. Together is the way to change”.

Nike’s and Adidas message was heavily shared. Besides, many were the celebrities that on their social media shared their support to the cause and asked for justice for the victims of these inhumane actions that unfortunately have been going on for far too long.
