THE NEW RABANNE MAKE UP LINE COMES FROM OUTER SPACE.

A breath of fresh air is investing the Spanish fashion house Paco Rabanne, which from this summer has made us understand that a major rebranding process is bringing the brand’s most iconic strengths back to light.

First of all, the change of name of the historic brand founded in 1966 by Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo was the most striking change. The brand recently announced it was dropping its name (from Paco Rabanne to Rabanne) in a move that recalled Yves Saint Laurent ‘s controversial decision to drop Yves from its brand. “Simplified and with a more international spirit, the name change to Rabanne represents a pivotal moment for the house as it celebrates a decade of remarkable growth,” reads a press release.

But that is not all. the house has also introduced a new monogram and a new font inspired by its first fragrance, Calandre, launched in 1969.

In the wake of its makeover, Rabanne has landed in the world of beauty and make-up in a big way proving that even when it comes to cosmetics, the Space Age look has a timeless appeal.

Its first make-up collection is a perfect reflection of Rabanne’s futuristic and spacey aesthetic, shiny and silverish as much as creative director Julien Dossena’s knit bags and sequined dresses.

For the occasion, the fashion and perfume brand owned by Puig has introduced the necessary role of global beauty creative director, entrusting it to the make-up artist Diane Kendal who will supervise and manage the line.

The collection is split into four categories for the inaugural launch: “Nudes” for complexion, “Eyephoria” for eyes, “Rouge Rabanne” for the lips, and “Arts Factory,” which includes next-level artistry-inspired multi-purposeful products.

Packaged in elegant chrome tubes and capsule-shaped compacts, the range features metallic and iridescent finishes. It includes lipsticks, ice-toned powder eyeshadows, foundations, “Shimmer Bomb” body sprays and metallic “serums”. The brand also offers “Colorshots”, highly pigmented cream eyeshadows with glitter and metallic shades.

Rabanne’s entry into the cosmetics industry mirrors the recent boom in the luxury fashion beauty industry. In 2022 alone, Off-White™, Dries Van Noten and Stella McCartney launched their own beauty lines, designed to be more accessible to the average consumer than their more expensive fashion collections.

This move was also undertaken by the sixty-year-old maison with the aim of combining fashion and beauty and reaching a younger generation.

In fact, Rabanne Beauty, available on Rabanne’s website, ranges from $20 to $40, offering affordable access to Space Age luxury.
