MFW2019: FAY FLYES AMONG THE CLOUDS

Classical, functional, colourful, intriguing. Suspended between dreams and mundane life. Fay’s fall winter collection, presented in Milan under cloud-shaped neon signs, has conquered us.
The idea is that of a timeless wardrobe, those essentials which could be worn forever, without ever going out of style. The main rule is multilayer. On women’s silhouette a classic wool peacoat can become an iconic piece, setting a trend. Beautiful short leather waistcoats in deep burgundy and cream, worn under a coat in contrasting colour, for a very cool layered effect: the waistcoat becomes almost an accessory.
The idea is that any clothing piece can be revisited and made more intriguing, wisely layering and matching it. The collection, despite being very classic, is incredibly contemporary, exactly thanks to the idea of layers and the reinterpretation of accessories, elegantly turned into something new.
Fay draws its inspiration from the ethereal image of clouds, from their layered and elusive shapes: a meteorological inspiration connected to autumn; style and poetry, like an interior journey among thoughts and dreams, but with an allusion to the digital era: clouding and our obsession for data storage.
The Iconic “4 Ganci” Jacket goes from caramel leather to nylon, enriched with a hood, making it more casual. A second version in total white vinyl turns the model into a fresh and modern piece. As explained by Arthur Arbesser,  Fay’s creative director (brand of the group Tod’s), «a refined and immediate wardrobe, created to assume different identities thanks to layering.»
