After apologizing for the massive delay of the 5th season of Lucifer’s release, the showrunner  Ildy Modrovich, with an enigmatic tweet, tease what’s next for the beloved romance Deckerstar. “Ildy, could you PLEASE describe any Deckerstar scene from s5 in 3 emojis?” asks a fan. Modrovich answer, as requested, with three emojis: a key, a fist and a kiss. Just this was more than enough to the trigger curiosity of the fans of the show, that started bombarding Twitter with any kind of theories. At the moment, the most popular hypothesis is that the emojis refer to a possible kidnapping of Chloe that will be heroically saved by Lucifer.

Netflix still hasn’t announced an official release date. We only know for now, that the 5th season will be divided into two parts, of 8 episodes each (instead of the 10 episodes in total previously announced) that will be available in two different dates, “with a small break in-between”, like Tom Ellis said in October. Unfortunately, mid-March, Lucifer like many other tv-series had to suspend their production due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first part of the season was shot before the lockdown started, but like it was communicated by the co-showrunner Joe Henderson, they couldn’t proceed with the post-production.

For now, we’re not sure when the production will start again, (the second part of the season was almost entirely shot before it was stopped due to the lockdown) and when the first part will be released. The only thing we know is the titles of the 16 episodes, revealed by the writers of the series on their twitter account. The title of the first episode will be Really Sad Devil Guy. Maybe it’s a reference to Lucifer’s sadness after going back in Hell? Idly Modrovich then surprised the fans of the show with good news: the episodes of the 5th are longer, from 50 minutes to 60 minutes each. Entertainment Weekly spoiled an exclusive picture of the 5th season in which Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) will visit his brother Lucifer down in hell to ask him an important question.
