He is the Kaiser, the king of the fashion system, judge on Earth and in the sky of any trend, she is the coolest model at the moment. Together, they created KarlxKaia, the capsule collection of prêt-à-porter and accessories that celebrates the artistic meeting between Karl Lagerfeld and Kaia Gerber, sixteen-year-old divine Cindy Crawford’s daughter. The collection is mythical already. Its aesthetic is glamorous chic: a meeting between the “snobbish” allure of the Parisienne look and the naive and pop Los Angeles’ aesthetic.
The capsule is urban inspired, with sporty elements, but with a strong glamorous touch, and it is a part of the autumn-winter collection 2018, for which Kaia also posed as the campaign main face. Among the accessories: bags, shoes, sunglasses and jewels. The mini-dress is sovereign, fresh and sexy, in jersey and with logo; there are oversize sweaters; but mostly we can’t help but notice the Cat Woman suit, super adherent and super sexy. Wool pullovers are mostly short and with high-neck, models wear miniskirts, better if lilac and metallic. There’s a little black and blue dress, with cut-out elements, in leather and fabric, open on the back and with a frontal zip that crosses it from head to toe: this will be a very common concept.
The look is rock-chic: KarlxKaia reinterprets it through a long silk dress with a leather corset, lateral tear and a tiny train. The capsule’s final effect is unforgettable: there are all of Karl’s essentials, such as tuxedo blazers and biker jacket, but with a feminine, almost girly, touch, that’s going to set a trend.
