As at the end of every year, Google shared the annual results of the hottest searches in 2020. “In times of uncertainty, people seek understanding and meaning,” Google said on its official Twitter account. “2020 was a year of profound questions, and the world has been looking for the “why” more than ever, according to Google Trends.

Some of the search words at the top of the list include “Coronavirus”, “WAP”, “Travis Scott” and “Joe Biden”, to name a few. Other trending searches included “2020 presidential election”, “Kobe Bryant” and “Zoom”. Google has also organized some trends into categories. For example, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Hanks, Joaquin Phoenix and Jada Pinkett Smith are some of the names that ranked high in “Actors”. “WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion was positioned at the top in the lyric category, while Shakira and Grimes took first places in “Musicians and Bands”.
