A new beauty care method is becoming super trendy among beauty and wellness addicts: it is Digital Detox. Have you already understood what I’m talking about? At least 48 hours of absolute abstinence from internet and technology. And when I say absolute, I mean absolute: no mails, no Facebook, no Whatsapp, no apps. Even Netflix is forbidden. And if you’re really brave, also block calls. Why undergo such a torture? It’s simple: because it’s not a torture. Actually, constant connection hurts our mood, our concentration, our vision, skin, and even hair. There are studies that prove there is a tight bond between the artificial light produced by tablets, smartphones and computers and the appearance on our skin of wrinkles and black spots; that terrible blue light ruins our under-eye, makes hair less shiny and hurts our vision. Moreover, consider that a recent Californian research proved that mails and calls end up interrupting us in average once per 180 seconds.
So, this is the point: a rigorous digital detox will let you take a break that will positively alter your mood and psyche. Take it as a 48 hours long beauty treatment. It’s a weekend, pick the right one. For example I work 13 hours per day and, moreover, my job involves social networks and phone, thus I can’t stop it all whenever I want. Therefore I need a battle plan. Here’s mine: on the first free weekend (as regards me, sadly I doubt it will be earlier than in a month from now), turn everything off from Friday night. Lock your phone and computer inside your lingerie drawer and start. If you have a boyfriend, lock him inside with you and have him participate to the treatment: this will improve your relationship. And then, add the right ingredients. Mine would be: an interesting book (How to break up with your phone by Catherine Price, Mondadori); a purifying herbal tea (pick a tasty and effective one, like this one by Angelica); a million perfumed candles to use in your bathroom while you’re having a bath with salts and essential oils (I’ve been using Mearome oils for a couple of months and, just so you know, I love peppermint).
After that, get ready to use, one after the other, all the face masks that have ever been produced. Another product you must have: Digital Detox, a protective tonic rich with anti-stress and energizing minerals that is useful against the effects of environmental and digital pollution.
I also bought the eye contour cream Estéé Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye crème, created to regenerate tissues that suffered from “technological aggression”.
And finally, a lot of beauty sleep, a lot of peace and a lot of time to do everything you never have the time to do. I’m actually considering it.
