COPERNI TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!

Among the most anticipated events of the Fashion Week calendar there’s the Coperni one, a brand that has demonstrated for years its mastery in mixing fashion and cutting-edge technology.

Think of the spray dress created in a live demonstration on Bella Hadid and the interpretation of The Wolf and the Lamb with the robot dogs patented by Boston Dynamics that shared the catwalk with models such as Deva Cassel and Lila Moss.

On their way to surprise us with increasingly innovative design projects, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant presented a new it-bag during Paris Fashion Week.

As many will know, one of the most distinctive products in the Coperni collections are the Swipe bags that the brand has reinvented over the years in various versions, such as the glass one or the one with a built-in CD player.

For autumn winter 2024-2025, Coperni has taken the swipe bag to the next level by including the first bag in the world made of air in the new collection.

Developed by Professor Ioannis Michaloudis, Coperni’s Air Swipe Bag which debuted on the penultimate evening of the current Paris week is already viral on social media.

Seemingly impractical, the new Swipe Bag is a fascinating piece, which connects fashion, art and aerospace engineering, winking at space age style without losing the minimal and ultra-modern aesthetic that distinguishes the label.

But what makes it so unique and fascinating? The accessory is made of airgel, a nanomaterial considered the lightest solid on planet Earth. Very delicate, but not fragile, it is used by NASA to capture stardust since it is characterized by notable resistance to heat (up to 1200 degrees Celsius) and pressure (400 times its weight).

Characterized by the iconic oval shape, the Coperni Swipe bag is made of 99% air and 1% glass, for a total of 33 grams.

In proportion to its incredible lightness, the bag constitutes the largest object ever made of airgel. Its dimensions: 27x16x6 centimeters.

It is therefore not surprising that the air-based bag proposed by the two designers was the undisputed star of the show.

The new Air Swipe bag, more than its capacity, wants to focus on a new chapter in fashion in which functionality comes after the avant-garde experimentation and the challenging dialogue between design and technology.
