Some accessories are timeless, like the Chanel 2.55 Bag. The years pass and its value increases. Designed and produced during the cold February of 1955 (where the name Chanel 2.55 comes from) soon gained its icon status. If you want to buy it either new or used, you’re making a great investment. The Chanel bags don’t seem close to a crisis, every year the keep increasing. “The Chanel Jumbo Bag, in 2006 cost a little more than 1500 euros. Now the same bag, in 2015 has a value of 5000 euros!” reveals Sarah Davis of Fashionphile in an interview with whowhatwear.co.uk.

But what’s the reason behind it? The Chanel 2.55 value is big because of the important story behind it. Some say that the quilted with rhombuses was inspired by the jackets of the ostlers and the colourful windows of the abbey close to the school that Mademoiselle Coco attended, the burgundy lining inside the bag by the school uniform and the braided shoulder strap by the chains that the nuns wore attached to their belts. Lastly, in the inside pocket, the young Coco used to keep her love letters.

During the Autumn/Winter 2019/2020 Fashion Show in Paris, designed by Karl Lagerfeld e Virginie Viard (here you can find her first revolutionary collection for Chanel) debuted on the runway the new  Chanel 19The bag quickly became one of the most desired accessories of the Maison, worn by celebrities such as Katie Holmes, Diane Kruger, Janelle Monae. The Chanel 19 embodies the aesthetic codes of the Maison, reinterpreted in a contemporary way and for the SS20 collection, the chosen colours were black, green and pink, mixed with the denim and printed silk.
