In the last few years, at every fashion week, Balenciaga was able to anticipate multiple fashion trends, especially if we talk about footwear. After the Speed Trainer and the chunky Triple S, the fashion house under the creative direction of Demna Gvasalia, presented during their Spring/Summer 2021 fashion show, a new pair of sneakers that are destined to be iconic: the Balenciaga X-Pander.
Like the previous sneakers, the shoes mix the running aesthetic of the early 2000s with the new normcore, presenting a mesh upper with an overlay of different materials. The main element is the sole, which of course is chunky, but featuring a spring inside the heel. This special feature will make the Balenciaga X-Pander really comfortable without giving up on a unique aesthetic.
The sneakers were instantly visible in the fashion film that presented the new collection, which saw the models walking down the streets of Pairs. The collections recontextualized pieces that you would usually wear at home, for daily use even outside of the comfort of your bed and elevated them. Was Demna Gvasalia able to launch a new trend?
