adidas dusts off a great classic by adapting it to one of the most crucial American sporting events of the year. The German brand has made a restyling of the Pro Model 2G for McDonald’s All-American Game 2021. The sneakers show the colors of the most famous fast-food chain in the world. The launch coincided with the release of the match rosters featuring top high school talent. The design does not change from the original 2003 version, but the red and yellow colors are perfectly suited to the event’s naming sponsor. The McDonald’s logo is placed on the back of the shoe. The tongue also has the symbol of the chain combined with that of the event, while in the inner and outer forefoot, there is the iconic slogan “I’m lovin ‘it”.
The Pro Model 2G was a must at the beginning of the millennium, and many high-level players dressed this model. Jamal Murray (Adidas basketball testimonial) used a custom pair dedicated to Breonna Taylor and George Floyd; Josh Collins, Nick Young, and Iman Shumpert chose colored, and basic versions; Kyle Lowry wore them in the latest All-Star Game in a striking black & gold version; Melli wore them in what was once called the Rookie Challenge. However, the most incredible names are those of LeBron James (at the time of Saint Vincent Saint Mary HS), Kobe Bryant, and the Westbrook-Love duo at UCLA.
No release has been made official now, but Adidas is more than likely to launch this new Pro Model 2G model in the coming months. The McDonald’s basketball trend was back in the limelight when Travis Scott found a jersey dedicated to the event last September.
For the uninitiated, the McDonald’s All-American Game is a basketball match, where the best basketball players and basketball players from all the high schools of America play. The first game was organized in 1977. The fast food chain sponsors the event.
