As a newcomer to Balenciaga, Pierpaolo Piccioli has already garnered full support for his work as creative director.
Confirming this, the designer has also launched a new line of sneakers for the brand, bringing a breath of creativity to the world of luxury footwear.
Called the Radar Sneaker, Balenciaga’s new footwear is inspired by classic tracking technology, which also defines the very concept behind the shoe’s design.
The Radar Sneaker is a shoe that molds almost entirely to the foot for a narrow and perfect fit.
Instantly recognizable by its lightweight, aerodynamic construction, the shoe features a sleek silhouette, almost as impalpable as radio waves.
The design aims to offer flexibility, responsiveness, comfort, and everyday wearability, combining multiple technical and stylistic elements into a single, refined yet sporty shape.
This shape certainly distances us from the heavy, oversized sneakers we’ve become accustomed to from Balenciaga. Despite this, the Radar is already shaping up to be the brand’s next success.
Featuring a low profile, the Radar features a double lacing system that wraps around the upper for a secure and adjustable fit. Various details are also evident, such as Balenciaga’s sporty “3B” logo embossed on the toe and the brand’s signature visible size tag decorating the heel.
Available in a few simple colorways, including a grayscale version and a pair in various shades of purple, these sneakers have the potential to become an industry bestseller. And not just them. Piccioli has created a second iteration of the line, the Sneakerina version. Riding the sneaker trend that nods to technical ballet footwear, the Radar Ballerina takes the elegant sneaker and streamlines it even further, giving it the look of a ballet slipper with a sporty twist.
It will be available in grayscale and pastel pink, as well as black and white colorways.
The Radar sneaker was previewed at the end of February 2026 in select Balenciaga stores worldwide and on the official website. A wider launch of the line will follow in the coming days, introducing additional colorways and expanding availability to more stores. The Radar Ballerina version will also launch at the end of March and will soon be available as part of Balenciaga’s new footwear collection.
