Dior’s white eyeliner admired during the last Paris Fashion Week has already become a must for the season.
During the Dior Haute Couture Spring Summer 2022 fashion show, Maria Grazia Chiuri emphasized embroidery as an absolute protagonist and a return to the precious Italian sartorial workforce. Precious tapestries by Indian artists Madhvi and Manu Parekh were distinctive elements of the scenography, while elaborate embroidery went to embellish the clothes. The white Dior eyeliner with a solid stroke to illuminate the faces of the models made the show even more evocative and iconic. “In a way, white eyeliner is almost like a thread,” makeup artist Peter Philips said backstage as he carried on this season’s theme. “Lightness illuminates the face”.
And what makes it even more particular is the message it contains: the graphic stroke from the upper eyelid migrates to the lower one. A metaphor: what has been so far, turned upside down, may still be new. And able to surprise us, make us dream.
