One of the best Mexican dining experiences in New York City is Cantina Rooftop. The owner, Pedro Zamora, has over 25 years of experience in the Latin music industry and is one of the largest producers of Latin concerts and Hispanic entertainment events in the United States. A lover of nightlife and entertainment, Pedro’s entrepreneurial spirit helped him build a successful Latin American entertainment empire that includes, in addition to Cantina Rooftop, also Zamora Entertainment, La Boom Inc. Z Live and several national radio stations. But back to the Cantina: The venue includes a bar, lounge and event space as well as a rooftop bar boasting with an amazing view of the city. The noise level is moderate, while the colours, lights, decorations, add just enough sauce to feel the 100% Mexican atmosphere and give you the feeling of being inside a restaurant in Tijuana.
Executive Chef Saul Montiel curated an authentic Mexican menu: a selection of ceviches, guacamoles, tostaditas and tacos as well as house specialities including Barbacoa de Cordero, Maguey braised lamb shank, consomme with Guajillo sauce and comal corn tortillas, Chicken Campestre, rice and grilled Black Angus arrachera steak with roasted potatoes, Poblano peppers and charred asparagus. The cocktails are expertly prepared, with a focus on Margaritas.
