“A couture creation comes to life only through movement, light, colors, and music, but mostly through the human being beneath it, wrapped in it, welcomed by its fabric. The one who dances and the one who dreams. Couture is alive, and so is the dream.” These are the words, that Pierpaolo Piccioli, Creative Director of Valentino, chose to present his latest project for the Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 collection. The film, titled Of Grace and Light, directed by  Nick Knight, explore the connection between the realm of haute couture and the digital space.

The inspiration behind the video, as explained by Nick Knight, was Loie Fuller, a pioneer of modern dance that deeply influenced the Art Noveau movement “which in turn is reflected in the freedom, elegance, and the grace in this collection,” he says. “Pierpaolo and I wanted to create a fashion renaissance, totally free to speak a language based on beauty and fantasy.”

The film captures a mysterious figure that fluctuates in the air while surrounded by a long black draped material. But still, no creation has been revealed yet, to found out more we have to wait for the Live Performance planned for July 21st 2020 in Rome.
