Cyber Security giant NordPass has published its 2021 study of the 200 most common passwords in the world.
The primo place in the United States is boosted by the very original sequence “123456”, which could explain why America has the most leaked passwords per capita globally. In second place is the obvious “password” and the rest of the top 10 slots are filled with different versions of the two, such as “123456789” and “password1”.
Interestingly, even on the other side of the world, things don’t change much: “123456” is also the most common password in the UK, followed once again by “password”, a more local “Liverpool”, “password1” and “123456789” to complete the top five.
Other notable mentions this year include “iloveyou,” “dragon,” “princess,” “computer,” “pokemon,” and “fuck off.”
Italy also fits in the wave with the password “123456” in first place found 1,726,692 times and the original “qwerty” in fifth place found 229,451 times.
