Make room to Calcaterra. Make room to young and original designers. Until now this brand had only taken part to the Milan Fashion Week with presentations. During this first fashion show, it proved all its great personality and showed even better the extremely particular style that has always characterized the brand.
As the creative director Daniele Calcaterra himself explains the maison “lives its own contemporaneity, that sometimes doesn’t go along with trends, but only with my own personal way to feel and honor the beauty and the modernity of a woman.” Just like that.
The collection is inspired by the works of Richar Serra, an American sculpturer who’s particularly good at destroying and reinventing proportions. That’s what inspired the wonder of this new collection, in which colors, matter and shape follow their own unpredictable and original idea.
Pants are loose like sails and they emphasize a vastness that transmits the exciting and fulfilling feeling of fabrics moved by the wind.
This vastness, though, is in antithesis with the modern and sexy jackets with their very tight waist. Fabrics go from sculpture to geometry and to refined embroidery: crêpes, details in angora, mohair on mikado and silk, that bring harmony to flared cuts, either egg or pencil shaped.
The main colors are dark blue, black, burgundy, white camel and brown. Among the must-have accessories: ankle boots, boots, pointed slippers, lace-up shoes, gloves and shoulder bags. Key words are sobriety, elegance and experimentalism.
