GCDS wasn’t joking when they titled the Spring/Summer 2021 collection OUT OF THIS WORLD” which was presented during the Milan Fashion Week. During these difficult times that we’re all facing, the fashion industry had to reinvent itself and find new ways to present their collections. In the past months, we saw some amazing and different digital fashion shows, but the solution found by Giuliano Calza and his brand is next level.

GCDS’ Creative Director Giuliano Calza spoke about the venture, stating, “Envisioning this place gave me peace of mind. We created this universe out of a glowing blank white page, populating it with clothes, structures, avatars of real-life people and cartoon, even digitised catwalk lighting. It took many months of Skype and Zoom calls.” It was not just a live stream, but a full immersion into a fantastic world thanks to the amazing team of Emblematic, the support of the artist Thomas Webb and the director Jeron Braxton. No models walked down the runway, or IRL celebrities, influencers, buyers sitting front row, but creatures created with CGI inspired by friends of the brand such as Gigi Hadid, Chiara Ferragni, Fedez, Dua Lipa and Gilda Ambrosio.

The collection featured asymmetrical jackets, mini dresses, swimwear and a capsule collection dedicated to Rick & Morty. The outfits and accessories still maintain high quality even if they’re digital, but of course, we will have to wait to have a better look at the collection. The inspirations were the 60s and 80s, like the floral prints, vinyl, latex and rainbow sequins.
