2020 will be a year characterized by many promotions in the sportswear sector. The closure of many shops produced an accumulation of stocks inside the warehouses that will bring strong sales in retail. According to an analysis made by the BofA (Bank of America), the e-commerce channels and China are the only ones that are proceeding normally and the experts think that this could help “a highly promotional market in 2020 because brands want to enter 2021 with their stocks as clean as possible”.

The analysts observed that the offers and promotions in the sportswear sector are constantly evolving, and noticed that Puma is the least promotional focused brand on their website. While Adidas recently launched their 30% sales in Germany and the UK on a selection of 75% of their products. A similar offer is now available by Reebok and Nike that offers a 30% discount on all their e-shops products. While in the wholesales field, on the contrary, Puma is usually more discounted compared to its competitors, Adidas and Nike.

The BofA experts expect that Adidas will face a massive loss in its entries compared to other sportswear brands because the accelerations of their sales could be slower than usual. In the meantime, Reebok is showing its first signals of recovery during these days and expect a faster liquidation of their stocks. But on one front they’re the same:  Nike and Adidas joined forces to say once again NO to any kind of discrimination and violence.
