While on Google do-it-yourself lipstick recipes chase each other, L’Oréal takes a step forward in cosmetic innovation and launches Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Sur Mesure Powered by Perso. It is a device for home use that makes a small dream come true: to create your personalized lipstick at home.
This elegant black and gold digital station, developed by L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator, relies on artificial intelligence to create lipsticks thanks to color cartridges that reflect YSL’s palette of reds, nudes, oranges, and fuchsia. Thanks to the “Perso” system, the device allows you to create thousands of personalized shades of YSL Velvet Cream Matte Finish lipstick with a single touch.
Perso uses a set consisting of 3 cartridges to find the right shade for your lips. Just press the appropriate button, and the device will dispense both the product and the exact dose to be applied. The gadget is also equipped with a special brush for application. The applicator is removable and can be carried in your handbag to touch up your makeup during the day.
In addition to creating your hue yourself, the revolution is that the device is connected to a smartphone app. This allows you to choose between the various color options and virtually try them out before creating it. Among the tools offered by the app there are a color wheel that allows you to adapt the shades of the lipstick to the light; a tool to coordinate the shade of the lipstick with that of the outfit; a virtual stylist who, thanks to an algorithm, recommends the most suitable shades to match each look.
The L’Oréal group presented Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Sur Mesure Powered by Perso during the Consumer Electronics Show’s virtual edition. It is held every year and is the largest fair dedicated to technological innovation in electronics. It is currently available for $ 299 (approximately € 245) for pre-order in the US only but will soon ship worldwide by the end of 2021.
Perso was first presented in January 2020 in Las Vegas during CES 2020. The device was created with the intent of allowing each of us to develop bespoke creams, lipsticks, and foundations. This with YSL is only the first step of the revolution in the world of beauty.
