According to a recent market forecast made by the Taiwanese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is working on a pair of Apple Glasses with augmented reality. Some rumours were already circulating since November 2019 thanks to Bloomberg. The reports say that the glasses will be able to connect via wireless to the iPhone and share any messages, maps and e-mail on the lenses, but also visualize 3D objects, scan human faces with the possibility to play videogames and take pictures. The release should be between 2021 and 2023 and will follow a slow process with a headset that will precede the actual launch of the glasses.
The glasses will work as an iPhone accessory and not as a device on its own. The first headset that we will see will be similar to the Oculus Quest by Facebook but with a minimal design, followed by the actual AR glasses that will feature a high-resolution display with an operating system called rOS (reality OS). According to Kuo, it will be possible to control them by using a touch panel, vocal commands and hand gestures. This reminds us of the first generation of Apple Watch (now available in the special rainbow limited edition created by Apple to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community).
The Apple Glass will be sold with a recharging platform and will cost $499.
