Among the highlights of this overwhelming Milan fashion week, there is the departure of the creative duo at the head of Jil Sander.
Only a few hours after the show concluded, husband-wife designers Luke and Lucie Meier announced that the presented fw25 collection would be the last at the helm of the German brand.
However, rumors about the possibility that the couple might leave Jil Sander have been circulating within the fashion industry for months, especially given the various changes that have occurred in recent months at the fashion brands owned by OTB.
the Meiers have been an iconic part of the brand’s history. Having joined in 2017 after working for Balenciaga and Dior (Lucie) and Supreme (Luke), the pair represented the fashion house’s longest-lasting artistic direction.
Jil Sander has always been known for its relaxed approach to luxury, and the Meiers have amplified its reputation year after year, emphasizing modernist silhouettes with a strikingly grounded opulence.
Not surprisingly, the Meiers’ final catwalk was defined, in their own words, “a brilliant metaphor for love”.

The dark staging of the show left only the designers’ creations to shine with an unusually bright light.
Garments in velvet, taffeta, silk and sequins, blue shearling furs entered the scene with a particular liveliness, as did airy kilts and precious alpaca knitwear.
At the conclusion of the show, the brand promptly issued a short press release announcing the end of the couple’s tenure as joint creative directors: “Jil Sander and its Creative Directors Lucie and Luke Meier have mutually decided that this collection would be the last of their collaboration,” stated the release. “The designers seize this occasion to express their heartfelt gratitude to OTB and the Jil Sander teams who have consistently dedicated their energy, passion, and talent to this project, and are proud of the work they have accomplished alongside such wonderful people. A special thanks as well to Mr. Rosso.”
Renzo Rosso, president of OTB Group (which owns the Jil Sander brand since April 2021), also thanked Lucie and Luke for their “vision, passion for excellence, and dedication to the brand.”
To date, the label has not made any statement regarding the successor of the husband-wife duo.
