Social media really know how to bring out our creative side like never before in these quarantine days. Even in the midst of a global pandemic, creativity abounds, and this is how we are witnessing the #pillowchallenge phenomenon on social media such as Instagram and TikTok.
To try this challenge you need a pillow, together with a belt: with the latter, in fact, the pillow is locked at the waist, creating the optical effect of a real mini dress. Yes, your back is completely exposed, but from the front it looks like the type of package that squeezes your life and that you might expect to see on a bold, irreverent, silly and sexy catwalk, like a Jeremy Scott.
Brittany Xavier, a particularly expert influence on social media said: “I didn’t want the pillow to look too sexy like lingerie, but rather a structured mini dress. I thought it was a very cool look. Her photo got over 60,000 Likes.

Currently there are 148.279 posts that use the hashtag with the most common iteration of the dress consisting of a large pillow or tight white sheet with a black belt, although some influencers put a touch of personal creativity also using blankets, duvets and bed cover.
Giulia Valentina showed off a floral pillow, matching her bedroom, combining a pink purse and stiletto while Elena Barolo opted instead for a simple white polka dot pillow, and instead of the belt she wore a Chanel bandana. But it was Paola Turani who won hands down, who reinterpreted the challenge in her own way by wearing the whole duvet, for a soft and homey dress, yes, but without giving up the train.
